Getting your first-time Utah limited-term driver license
Not U.S Citizen with lawful presence, refugee/asylee/humanitarian (Afghan) parolee age 20 and younger
- There are several steps in the process of getting your license
- You will need to visit a DLD office at least two times during the process
Get learner permit
- Bring required documents to DLD appointment
- Get permit to start practicing driving
- Ages 15-18: You are required to hold your permit for 6 months
Take online Traffic Safety & Trends exam
- Learner permit number required to register
- Must pass with 100%
Register and take examTake driver education (required ages 15-18) OR prove 40 hours of practice driving and hold permit for 3 months (age 19 & over)
- 10 hours of the practice driving must be after sunset
