Renew ID Card - U.S. Citizen
Two options
- Renew online - if eligible
- Renew in-person
Under 21?
- If you renew before your 21st birthday, your limited-term ID will still show minor.
- You would not be issued an “adult” ID card until on or after your 21st birthday.
Renew online - check if you're eligible
- You'll get a letter saying you can renew online
- You can only renew online every other time you renew
- You need the PIN # from that letter
- If you got that letter & have the PIN, go to online renewal
- If you lost the letter and need the PIN, please call our Customer Service at 801-965-4437 or toll-free at 888-353-4224

Renew in person
- You'll get a letter saying you have to renew in person
- You can only renew online every other time you renew
- Follow the steps below to renew in person
Fill out application and schedule appointment
- REQUIRED: Online application
- SAVE TIME: Make appointment
Gather your documents - must bring to appointment
- Bring your current Utah ID or something with your name on it
- Address change? Bring two documents showing proof of your new address OR update your address online before your appointment
- Name change? Bring proof of your name change
At your appointment
- Have confirmation # ready to check-in
- Get your picture taken
- Show documents (if address or name has changed)
- Pay non-refundable fee of $23
- If under 16, have parent sign for you

When do I get my ID card?
- A temporary identification card with a photo will be issued on the same day.
- The completed identification card with an expiration date of five (5) years will be mailed to you in approximately 4-6 weeks.
